2024 New Bern Artists Studio Tour
This is my second year as a participating artist. I meant to talk about this event last year, right afterwards, but life often gets in the way.
The 2024 New Bern Artist’s Studio Tour is almost underway! What and when is it? It’s a charming event, occurring in New Bern, North Carolina where a whopping 50 local artists open up their studio doors to the public…including me! Oftentimes, the artists will offer light snacks and beverages, they may have items for sale, they may be doing demonstrations for you and they’re definitely showcasing their bodies of work. It is so exciting when we artists sell and original work of art! Even selling prints is exciting! Or stickers, or bookmarks, or greeting cards! We love your support! This happened to me during last year’s one day event studio tour… I sold my creations.
2023 was my first ever tour, so I was very uneasy. I thought, “What if no one comes?” Well, even though I was about to retch before start time, I was able to hold down my breakfast and happily greet my first -and very eager- visitor. She was at my front door a few minutes before the event was scheduled. I let her in and had a nice chat, then almost everything was a blur after that. I know I sold a few things and happily greeted everyone (thanks to my mom, my volunteer art manager). My mom made sure everyone that walked into my house was able to meet me and ask any questions they had.
I realized everyone was so encouraging. I was surprised no one said, “Ew, that’s so ugly.” It was great! I captured a few special moments of the 2023 New Bern Artist’s Studio Tour and will aim to do the same this year.
This event is being offered to the public at no charge so please make plans to come to New Bern this weekend and check out the things I’ve been working on.
